Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 16, 2026 · English · Français · Español
This Privacy Policy explains how Akwaba Food collects, uses, shares and protects your personal data when you use the website www.akwabafood.com and the Akwaba Food Android app (package ci.akwabafood.app), which displays the same service, and the Akwaba Food Courier Android app for Couriers (package ci.akwabafood.livreur). Together they are called the “Service”.
1. Who we are
Akwaba Food is a digital marketplace that connects independent cooks and small restaurants (“Vendors”) and independent couriers (“Couriers”) with customers (“Clients”) who want to order authentic African dishes. The Service is operated by Techland Sarl, Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire, which is the data controller for the personal data described here.

2. Data we collect

| Vendor account | Business name, contact name, email, phone, restaurant / kitchen address, opening hours, dish descriptions and prices, payout details needed to transfer your earnings | Publish your store and menu, forward orders, pay you, manage your vendor subscription |

We do not track Clients or Vendors in the background. |

3. Android app permissions
- Internet and network state – to load the Service and show an offline screen when there is no connection.
- Location (asked only when you use address detection; in the Akwaba Food Courier app, while the app is open and the Courier is available) – see “Location” above.
- Camera (asked only when you choose to take a photo to upload).
- Notifications – to alert you about your orders (Clients) or new orders (Vendors). The app shows these alerts on your device; it does not use a third-party push service.
You can withdraw any permission at any time in your Android settings. The Service keeps working (you can type your address or pick a photo from your gallery instead).
4. Who we share data with
- The Vendor you order from – your name, the order details and the information needed for pickup or delivery.
- The Courier delivering your order – your first name, the delivery address, map position, delivery instructions and phone number (if provided), only for the time of the delivery.
- Payment providers – Stripe (card payments, privacy policy) and CinetPay (Mobile Money in Côte d'Ivoire, cinetpay.com). They process your payment data under their own privacy policies and security standards (PCI-DSS).
- OpenStreetMap / Nominatim – if you use address detection, your coordinates are sent to this service to find the matching street address.
- Technical providers – our web host LWS (Ligne Web Services), France (servers and email), and content delivery services that load fonts and scripts on our pages (Google Fonts, cdnjs / Cloudflare, jQuery CDN), which receive your IP address when a page loads.
- Authorities, when required by law or to protect our rights and users.
Some of these providers are located outside Côte d'Ivoire (for example in the European Union or the United States). When data is transferred, we rely on appropriate safeguards offered by these providers.
5. Legal bases
We process your data to perform our contract with you (account, orders, payments, Vendor subscription), to comply with legal obligations (accounting, tax), on the basis of our legitimate interests (security, fraud prevention, improving the Service) or with your consent (location, camera, notifications), in accordance with Ivorian Law No. 2013-450 of 19 June 2013 on the protection of personal data and, where applicable, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other local laws.
6. How long we keep data
- Account data: while your account is active. After a deletion request, it is deleted or anonymised within 30 days.
- Orders, invoices and payment records: up to 10 years, as required by accounting and tax law, then deleted.
- Support messages and contact requests: up to 3 years after the last exchange.
- Photos and dish listings of a Vendor: deleted with the Vendor account.
- Server logs: up to 12 months.
7. Security
All traffic is encrypted (HTTPS/TLS), passwords are hashed, access to personal data is restricted to authorised staff, and payments are handled by certified payment providers. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your data and will notify you as required by law in case of a breach.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you can ask to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your data, object to or restrict certain processing, and withdraw your consent at any time. To exercise these rights, write to support@akwabafood.com. We answer within 30 days. You may also lodge a complaint with your data protection authority (in Côte d'Ivoire: ARTCI – www.artci.ci).
9. Deleting your account
You can ask us to delete your Akwaba Food account and associated data at any time, from the website or the app, on our Delete account page or by emailing support@akwabafood.com from the email address of your account.
We delete your profile, login details, phone number, addresses, photos, saved preferences and messages within 30 days. Order and payment records that we must keep by law are kept for the legal period (up to 10 years), separated from your profile, then deleted. Orders in progress and any pending payouts are settled before deletion.
10. Children
The Service is intended for adults (18 years and over). We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date at the top shows the latest version; for significant changes we will inform you on the website or in the app.
