Earn money delivering African cuisine, on your own schedule.

1. About Akwaba Food

Akwaba Food is a digital marketplace operated by Techland Sarl (Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire). It connects independent cooks and restaurants ("Restaurants"), independent couriers ("Couriers") and customers ("Customers") who order authentic African dishes. Akwaba Food provides the technology — ordering, secure online payment, delivery coordination, balances and withdrawals, order tracking — but does not itself prepare, cook, own or sell the dishes listed.

2. Acceptance and accounts

Creating any account (Customer, Restaurant/cook or Courier, on the website or in the courier app) requires ticking the box accepting these Terms. We record the date, time and version of the Terms you accepted. You must be of legal age, give accurate information and keep your password secret; you are responsible for all activity under your account. Restaurant and Courier accounts are reviewed and approved before becoming active, and may be suspended in case of fraud, abuse or breach of these Terms.

3. Customers

Prices, delivery fees and card processing fees are shown before payment. For pickup or on-site orders, each order has a QR code that the Restaurant scans when handing over the dishes. For delivered orders, a secret 5-digit delivery code is emailed to the Customer and shown on the order page: give it to the Courier only once you have received your order. You must provide an accurate delivery location and be reachable at delivery time.

4. Restaurants and cooks

Restaurants act as independent professionals, not employees of Akwaba Food. Each Restaurant is solely responsible for licences and permits required locally, food safety and hygiene, allergen information and the accuracy of its listings. For delivered orders, the Restaurant hands the dishes only to the Courier who gives the correct 5-digit pickup code shown in the courier app, and enters that code in its dashboard. Access to the platform requires a subscription (free trial, then a monthly or yearly plan); Akwaba Food charges no commission on the price of dishes.

5. Couriers

Couriers are independent and responsible for their vehicle, insurance, licence and compliance with traffic rules. They only see orders within the courier radius (200 km), give their 5-digit pickup code at the Restaurant, hand the order over intact and confirm each delivery with the Customer's code. Codes must never be shared with anyone else.

6. Payments, delivery fees and balances

Online payments are processed by Stripe; Akwaba Food never stores full card numbers. The delivery fee equals 10% of the dishes total: 8.5% goes to the Courier and 1.5% to Akwaba Food; in high-demand zones a $3 bonus is added to the delivery fee and paid to the Courier. Each user has a balance in their profile. For a delivered order, the Restaurant's share is credited as "pending" when the Courier picks up the order with the pickup code, and becomes "available" — together with the Courier's earnings — once the Customer's delivery code confirms the delivery. For card-paid pickup orders, the Restaurant's share becomes available when the order is handed over. Cash orders are settled directly between the Customer and the Restaurant.

7. Withdrawals

Restaurants and Couriers can request a withdrawal from their available balance, subject to the minimum amount shown. Requests are processed within a maximum of 48 business hours (Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays) and move through the statuses pending, processing, paid or rejected. For each request we record the amount, the date and time, the card brand and only the last 4 digits of the card used for the operation (never the full number) and the geographic position of your device. A rejected request is credited back to your balance. We may refuse or delay a withdrawal in case of suspected fraud, chargeback or a dispute about an order.

8. Location data collected at withdrawal

When you request a withdrawal, your browser or the courier app asks for permission to read your device's location (Geolocation API). This location is required to submit the request: it is stored with the request and used only to prevent fraud and account takeover, and to answer requests from competent authorities. If your device technically cannot provide a location, the request is recorded as "location not available". Couriers' locations are also used while they are online to show nearby orders.

9. Personal data and privacy

We process your personal data (identity, contact details, orders, payment references, balances, withdrawal records and location data) to provide the service, secure payments and meet our legal obligations, in accordance with our Privacy Policy. We never sell your data. Withdrawal and payment records are kept for the period required by accounting and anti-fraud rules. You can access, correct or delete your data and ask for your account to be deleted at any time.

10. Cancellations, refunds and disputes

Once a Restaurant has started preparing an order, it can no longer be cancelled automatically. For an issue with an order, contact support; refunds are reviewed case by case. If an order is refunded before delivery, any pending Restaurant share for that order is cancelled.

11. Prohibited conduct

You agree not to provide false information, share or misuse pickup or delivery codes, attempt to bypass platform security, create multiple accounts to abuse free trials or promotions, enter someone else's payment details, or post unlawful, defamatory or infringing content.

12. Liability

The platform is provided "as is". To the fullest extent permitted by law, Akwaba Food and Techland Sarl are not liable for indirect damages or for the quality, safety or regulatory compliance of dishes prepared by independent Restaurants. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the fees actually paid to Akwaba Food by the user concerned in the twelve months before the claim.

13. Governing law and changes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the country where Akwaba Food operates for the user concerned (Côte d'Ivoire or the United States), without prejudice to mandatory consumer-protection rules of your country of residence. We may update these Terms; the version accepted is recorded with your account and major changes will be notified to you.

14. Contact and support

Questions, complaints or data requests: support@akwabafood.com, the Contact page or the support ticket system in your dashboard.
